An FBI spokesman says the agency is ready to assist in the investigation of Tuesday's burglary and theft of a rare and valuable artifact at the Roger Maris Museum.

A burglar broke into the museum at West Acres Shopping Center and smashed a glass display case holding the Hickok Belt.

FBI Special Agent Kyle Loven says the bureau hasn't been formally requested to help, but he says federal investigators are aware of the unusual theft and ready to provide assistance if necessary.

The stolen belt is valued at between $90,000 and $140,000.
