The George Eastman Museum has received a $148,000 federal grant to support its projects, Passages: The Gabriel Cromer Collection.
The grant comes from the Institute for Museum and Library Sciences through the Museums for America program.
The grant will allow the museum to catalog, digitize and provide online access to its collection of early French photography.
The collection comprises more than 4,000 objects housed at the Eastman Museum.
Eastman Museum Director Bruce Barnes says that collection is considered the most important collection of such materials outside of France.
