Architecture is explored in-depth at the Carnegie Museum of Art’s new exhibition “Growing the Collection: Architecture at CMOA.” Held at and organized by the museum’s Heinz Architectural Center, the exhibition features drawings, models, and photographs that have been acquired by the institute in the past three years. The show runs until August 19, 2018.
The exhibition, through its exclusive display of architectural works, examines the ways architects explore ideas. “Even in our digital age, architects work through drawings and models. Along with photographs, these visualizations help us understand buildings we may never see firsthand,” says CMOA. The Heinz Architectural Center promotes understanding of the built environment through exhibitions, collections, and public programs.
“Growing the Collection: Architecture at CMOA” includes works by notable people and organizations from the world of architecture. Helene Binet, El Equipo Mazzanti, Leonardo Finotti, Grafton Architects, Gunter Gunschel
HHF Architects, Arthur Lubetz Associates, Johnston Marklee and Dennis Marsico are a few whose works get featured in the show.
The works on view relate to projects ranging across place and time: “from Pittsburgh to South America, from the American Gilded Age to contemporary Japan. Many of these objects are exhibited to the public for the first time,” adds the museum.
The exhibition will be on view through August 19, 2018, at the Carnegie Museum of Art, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia.
