A block of hotel rooms have been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express, 660 627-1100. When making arrangements please let them know that it is for the “Disaster Preparedness Workshop.”  All rooms are double beds, non-smoking. The rate is $74.00 + tax. Deadline to reserve rooms is April 10, 2014.  We look forward to seeing you.  Don’t dress up- we will be dealing with some wet and dirty artifacts!

Instructors Bios:  

Patricia Miller, Executive Director of the Illinois Heritage Association  

Pat has been with the Illinois Heritage Association (IHA) since itsfounding in 1981. She holds a master’s degree in art history from the University of Illinois. She has served as a registrar of a university art museum and as director of a county historical museum. As executive director of IHA, Pat works with cultural heritage organizations to facilitate achieving professional standards. She presents workshops and classes and is a frequent speaker at professional meetings. Pat teaches graduate courses in leadership and museum administration at Eastern Illinois University. She is also active in national, regional, and local museum and library organizations. She has served on the councils of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH). She is a peer reviewer for the AAM, serving on visiting committees for accreditation and as a Museum Assessment Program consultant for over twenty-five museums. She is active in the StEPs program of AASLH. Pat is the recipient of life-time awards from the Illinois State Historical Society, the Illinois Association of Museums, and the Association of Midwest Museum.

Bronwyn Eves, Bronwyn Eves Conservation Studios Incorporated

Bronwyn is an objects conservator.  Her clients include many small museums and collectors throughout the Midwest.  She holds an undergraduate degree in art history from the University of Illinois and a masters in art conservation from Buffalo State College in Buffalo New York.  Bronwyn is a professional associate in the American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works.

Captain James Snyder, Kirksville Fire Department

Captain James Snyder started his career with the Kirksville Fire Department as a full time Firefighter in 1996, and further achieved all requirements to include Fire Fighter I/II, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Haz-mat Technician certifications.  James was promoted to Fire Captain in November, 2009, and also holds numerous other certifications to include Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Techniques, Deep Water Rescue, CPR/AED certification, Fire Service Instructor I, Ignitable Liquids, Managing Company Tactical Operations, Methamphetamine Training, Outdoor Search & Rescue Practices, Post Blast Techniques, Structural Firefighting Techniques, Trench Rescue Operations, and Wild-land Fire Training as well as many other certifications.
