About

Rachel Mauldin works as an independent registrar, and is the Principal at Rachel Mauldin Art Services, LLC, based in San Antonio and serving Central and South Texas, and beyond. From 2005 until 2016, she worked for the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE). While with ARCE she was the Principal Project Consultant for the Egyptian Museum Registrar Training Project, a project that established the first museum registration department in Egypt. For this three-year project, she developed and implemented the training curriculum on basic museum registration for the Egyptian Museum registrars. As ARCE’s first archivist, she established the organization’s archives, encompassing over 60 years of historical, legal and financial documents. Prior to her work at ARCE, Rachel was the Head Registrar at the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) from 1993 to 2005, as well as Head of Exhibitions towards the end of her time there. During her tenure at SAMA she was involved in two building expansions—the 30,000 square-foot Latin American Art Center and the 10,000 square-foot Brown Asian Art Wing. Among the many exhibits she worked on, most notable was SAMA’s first international indemnified exhibition, Gold of the Nomads: Scythian Treasures from Ancient Ukraine. She was a co-courier and installation advisor to the six venues in the US, Canada and France. Rachel has a BA in Art History from Trinity University, San Antonio and an MA in Public Administration and Certificate in Nonprofit Administration and Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Rachel’s services include art and artifact cataloging and inventory, archives and records management, loan and loan management, courier services, exhibition coordination and management, art handling and packing, and training.
