Cameron Art Museum (CAM) has announced a new exhibition that highlights three artists that changed American art from the mid-20th century.
Guest Curator Ben Billengsley is working with CAM to celebrate Richard Diebenkorn, Helen Frankenthaler and Robert Rauschenberg with the exhibit showcasing nearly 40 years of each of their careers.
“Their artworks are at the core of Cameron Art Museum’s collection, which showcases prints by modern American artists using various techniques, including lithography, intaglio, and screen-printing,” CAM wrote in a press release.
The exhibition’s collection comes from inclusions of the three artists’ work from Akron Art Museum, Art Bridges, Cincinnati Art Museum, Des Moines Art Center, Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, North Carolina Museum of Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the Weatherspoon Art Museum.
“Their innovative methods and unique approaches redefined what art could be, what it could be about, and who could be celebrated for creating it. No American art museum collection is complete without their work,” Billingsley said.
‘The Game Changers: Diebenkorn, Frankenthaler, and Rauschenberg’ will be open to CAM members on Thursday, March 20 beginning at 6 p.m. The event will have DJ Louis craft a music set from jazz, soul, funk and blues. A cocktail tasting menu from the End of Days Distillery will be open until 7 p.m.
