Committee Feature - Emergency Programming Sub-Committee

The ARCS Emergency Programming Sub-Committee is charged with the development and implementation of emergency preparedness and response resources, training, and programs for registrars and collection stewards. The sub-committee provides diverse types of emergency preparedness and resources using different delivery methods, such as social media, website downloads, webinars, and videos. Through these resources, the aim is to empower collection stewards and registrars to be proactive in emergency mitigation, preparedness, and response.

Highlighted below are some of the exciting new projects this active committee has been working on!

ARCS is the newest member of Heritage Emergency National Task Force (HENTF)

HENTF, co-sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Smithsonian Institution, is a partnership of 60 national service organizations and federal agencies. Their mission is to protect cultural heritage in our nation’s states, tribes, territories, and local communities from damaging effects of disasters and emergencies. Members of the ARCS Emergency Programming Sub-Committee will be representing ARCS’ interest at HENTF meetings. As a member, ARCS will participate in program development, information dissemination, and provide assistance, if needed, to cultural institutions impacted by disasters.
