Description

Are you planning a digitization process at your institution? Have you considered the preservation implications of such a project? It is important that the preservation concerns be included in the planning portion of digitization programs. This two-hour class will explore how digitization provides an opportunity to stabilize, re-house, and even repair the analog within your collections. We will discuss care and handling techniques before, during, and after scanning to ensure that the original objects are not damaged during the scanning process. The class will also discuss environmental controls, equipment guidelines, and the preservation issues that need to be considered before embarking on a digitization project.
