Elizabeth (Betsy) Carpenter founded ArtWorks Management to serve as consultant, collections manager, exhibition registrar and cataloguer to artists, collectors and museums in Atlanta, Georgia then Barcelona, Spain. Betsy specializes in collection consultancies and registrar projects including exhibition organization, collections assessment and facilities design, and management positions at art museums worldwide. Able to adapt with agility to new situations and improve existing processes, Betsy is an ideal interim employee. Prior to her current appointment at the Colby College Museum of Art, Betsy served as their interim Associate Director. Previously, she served a year as the interim Registrar and Collections Manager at Bowdoin College Museum of Art. As chief registrar at the Guggenheim, she designed and managed their off-site storage and art preparations facility. She has worked in or managed the registration departments of many major institutions and private collections including: the Guggenheim, New York and Venice, the Whitney Museum of American Art and its branches; The Museum of Modern Art, New York: the Broida Museum and Trust. She was founding registrar at the Institut Valencia de' Arte Modern in Valencia, Spain. Professional expertise includes exhibition organization and travel, collections management, condition evaluations, collections cataloguing and research, lecturing in museum registration methods, art storage design and risk management, insurance negotiations, personnel management and mentorship.
