The Collection in Lincoln has notched up an astounding one million visitors in its first ten years.

Since opening in October 2005, the museum has quickly become one of the county's best-loved visitor attractions.

It's brought some of the finest art and archaeology there is to the city, as well as hosting prestigious touring exhibitions, like the BP Portrait Award, and its own blockbuster shows, such as Lincolnshire's Great Exhibition.

And in the last few years, it's made some dramatic improvements, including a new play area for younger visitors and multi-media tour guides, bringing in new audiences.

Cllr Nick Worth, executive member for culture and heritage at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "I don't think anyone expected us to reach this point quite so quickly.

"We're always looking for ways to improve what's on offer for visitors, making sure we have something for everyone.

"We've pieces by well-known masters, innovative and award-winning work from well-respected contemporary artists, and historical exhibitions that bring the story of our county to life like never before.

"So if you're one of the few who hasn't discovered everything this fantastic site has to offer, make sure you pay us a visit soon."
