Session/Boardroom Preview

Keynote December 5, 2022 12:20-1:20 p.m. CT
We are thrilled to announce that the ARCS 2022 Virtual Conference Keynote Speaker is Lisa Sasaki, Director, Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum, Smithsonian Institution.

Session, "Food for Thought: Building a New Smithsonian Museum Collection" Here’s some food for thought: Imagine that you could start a new museum from scratch. What would you do differently? How would you reimagine the museum’s collections if you didn’t have legacy objects – or legacy practices – to wrestle? Join Lisa Sasaki, interim director of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum, as she tells the tale of how the newest Smithsonian museum is being developed after it was authorized by Congress in December 2020, and how the museum plans to shift paradigms around collecting, shared stewardship, data management, and collections management in the process.

Nominations & Leadership Development Committee (Seeking - 1 Chair, 2 Members)
The Nominations Committee manages the development and placement of all ARCS volunteers, and develops and grows the ARCS Board of Directors. The Nominations Committee works with all other ARCS committees to solicit and recommend volunteer candidates for open officers, board members, and other leadership positions within ARCS. The Nominations Committee strives to recommend candidates with diverse and applicable perspectives and experiences to fill those needs, and seeks candidates committed to fostering a culture of belonging by promoting respect, accessibility, equity, and inclusion.
