The clock is ticking for a Lancaster County museum to replace its failing HVAC system.

It can get up to 100 degrees on a hot day at the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia, which threatens the 13,000 watches and clocks there.

It’s the largest collection of antique and modern clocks and watches in North America.

Now, the museum’s air-cooled chiller, heat exchanger and chilled water pumps are counting down their days. Thanks to grant money, the museum is undergoing a project to replace them. It’s an important measure for the museum to keep preserving mechanical items made from brass and steel.
