Welcome back to ARCS Update, #ARCSchat Loan Miniseries and more! ARCS Update Vol 5 | Update 1

February 24, 2020 | ARCS News

Welcome back to ARCS Update!

Welcome back to your bi-weekly ARCS Update! First, we wanted to thank Lisa Tillotson, Registrar at the Nickel Galleries, University of Calgary, for all her years as the chair of the Communications Committee and as the one in charge of the ARCS Update. Lisa crafted the text for the past few years and we all appreciate her hard work and dedication compiling news and information in previous ARCS Updates. Thanks again, Lisa!

Now to the future. My name is Robin Bauer Kilgo and for the past few years I’ve worked for ARCS as their Communications and Member Service Manager as well as working as a Contract Registrar in the Southeast. I’m lucky enough to be joined on the ARCS Update Committee by the current ARCS Board President and Head of Collections Management at the Freer Sackler, Danielle Hall Bennett, and two new committee members, Heather Culligan, Registrar at the Tampa Bay History Center, and Kristin Hatch, Collection Manager at The Buffalo History Museum. Together, we will gather information and produce the updates you will receive regularly.

ARCS has many exciting new projects planned in the next few months, so be sure to keep an eye out for updates about workshops, live streaming #ARCSChats, and future meetups!

#ARCSchat Miniseries March & April: Loan Contracts

Better care for your collections by tearing up your existing loan contracts. Yes, you read that correctly! In a two episode series, #ARCSchat considers two important aspects of our loan contracts and why we should re-evaluate both our knowledge of the subjects and the content of our contracts.

Episode 1 on March 3 will deconstruct our insurance requirements with guests Mary Pontillo, the National Fine Arts Practice Leader/SVP at Dewitt Stern Fine Art, and Adrienne Reid, the Vice President of Fine Art Insurance at Huntington T. Block.

Episode 2 on April 7 welcomes Joel Taylor and Caitlin Spangler-Bickell of the Getty Conservation Institute to discuss their latest research on climate control requirements in our loan contracts.

Join us on our YouTube Channel for both episodes and be ready to learn, re-evaluate, and maybe even tear up those old contracts!

Membership Update

All unpaid memberships in our database will expire on March 1! This means you will lose access to members-only benefits including:
